Location: Falls Church, VA

Position Summary

The position is responsible for supporting the product team on the CHEMTREC Safety Data Sheet (SDS) Solution service and managing the execution of SDS service(s) to customers.  This position reports directly to the Associate Director, Product Development, and Implementation.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Mentors and manages a team of SDS authors providing improvement plans, quality management processes around authoring, guidance, and support in their learning and development phases

  • Acts as the Project Manager for key clients and lead projects to completion.

  • Utilizes expertise to create chemical compositions s to determine final product compositions. 

  •  Author SDS using an SDS authoring platform or other means without supervision.

  • Works to improve existing processes and develops new processes to author SDS.

  • Provides client SDS authoring forecast information (i.e., production and financial) to leadership.

  • Obtains a good understanding of the financial, business, and other drivers associated with managed services business models.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.



  •  Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field.

  • Three years’ experience in authoring documents.

  • Expertise using SDS authoring platforms: e.g., Lisam, SAP, WERCS, 3E Generate.

  • Excellent analytical and written communication skills.

  • Strong teamwork and customer relationship skills.  

  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Advanced knowledge of authoring regulations (i.e., EU CLP, US OSHA, Canadian WHMIS, etc.).

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office suite.

  • Working knowledge in one or more transportation regulations (DOT, IATA, IMDG, TDG).

  • Advanced classification skills under at least three classification criteria (i.e. UN Purple book, US OSHA, EU CLP, Canadian WHMIS).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a science-related field or discipline.
