CHEMNET

Companies involved in manufacture, use or transportation of hazardous materials should have a contingency plan in place to deal with emergency spills of hazardous materials at their facility or while in transportation.  This contingency plan may include the use of for-hire contractors.

The CHEMNET® Program is intended to provide a “safety net” for CHEMTREC registrants who may need the services of an emergency response contractor at the scene of a transportation incident involving their product.   CHEMNET® is available 24/7 and is an exclusive benefit of CHEMTREC registration.

Activation

CHEMNET is activated upon the request of any shipper/carrier who requires a for-hire contractor's assistance. CHEMTREC can link the shipper/carrier with the CHEMNET contractor closest to the scene.

CHEMNET is available 24-hours a day to CHEMTREC registrants.

Eligibility

Any shipper or responsible party requesting assistance can use the program. Charges incurred from a for-hire contractor's actual response are the responsibility of the company that requests and authorizes those services.

For-Hire Contractors

CHEMNET's list of for-hire contractors is the primary resource for shippers and others that request the services of a contractor for response to a CHEMTREC hazardous material emergency incident. The joining process includes completion of the CHEMNET Self-Assessment Form (SAF). This document requests detailed information about the capabilities, qualifications, certifications and experience of the company. For more information, please review the SAF Guidelines

Emergency response contractors interested in participating as a for-hire contractor should contact CHEMTREC at (800) 262-8200 or (703) 741-5525 and ask for Andrew Kurtz.
